Hydroptere Flying at 56 Knots - 103km
Long before the America's Cup catamarans were hydrofoiling, French sailors Alain Therbault and Eric Tabarly had their foiling technology flying at 56 knots. As early as 1976 the idea was proved with the first model prototype. In this video the latest 'Hydroptere' incarnation reaches an astonishing 56 knots, that's 103km per hour. This is the short version video. We also have the full 9 minute doco story on our blog.
